Ethnicity - In Music
21 Savage came to the drill scene about middle 2014. In 2016 he released a track called "No Heart". This song has been trending throughout social media reaching over 150 million views on Youtube. In this song 21 Savage talking about his background, his use of gun violence, drugs, money and women. This is a normal drill song as it mainly talks about his day to day life on the streets.
21 Savage was raised on the east side of Atlanta. The Eastside is associated with gun violence causing deaths, drugs, money and loose women. There are various gangs which are on the Eastside such as Crips, Bloods, GDs, BDs and more. All through the song we can see that 21 Savage was raised in a background of violence and also we can see his type of ethnicity. Firstly, we can see this by how much guns and ammunition there are in the video suggesting violence and murder. Furthermore we can see a group gangbangers, smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol probably brought up similar as 21 Savage was, in a background of violence. Two interesting scenes in the video were the murder scenes in the video. The reason why they are interesting is because it shows us a lot about 21 Savage. It also shows us that the way that 21 Savage was brought up has made him what he is today.
In the video, 21 Savage states "I grew up in the streets without no heart". Instantly we can see he grew up on the streets not caring for anyone, having no sympathy and living the streets as a gangbanger. He also states "I praying to my Glock (a gun) and my Carbon ". In an interview, he mentions that the reason why he said that lyric is because all he had was a gun and that's what rode with him on the streets.
Overall from his song "No Heart" we can see that 21 Savage is from ethnic group associated with violence.
